TELL THE PROVINCE:

Stand Up for Healthcare Workers

Our Healthcare System Is in Crisis—Take Action Now!

Saskatchewan’s healthcare system is breaking down. ERs on bypass, ambulances don’t show up when needed. Seniors wait months or years for long-term care. Over 1,500 healthcare jobs sit unfilled. And now, private healthcare is creeping in making things worse, not better.

Frontline healthcare workers haven’t seen a real raise in over a decade. 70% say their household finances are poor or very poor. Saskatchewan pays among the worst. No surprise, skilled staff are leaving.

CUPE has flagged a $17.1 million cut in the 2025 health budget and a wage offer that doesn’t come close to what’s needed. Vacancies have doubled since 2019, causing 7,000 days of service disruptions. Media reports confirm the toll: rallies, burnout, and growing financial strain.

We’re at a breaking point. We can’t afford to lose more workers. It’s time for the Sask. Party government to step up before it’s too late.

What Needs to Happen:

  • Urgent action to address retention: Improve wages and working conditions to keep workers here.
  • Invest in current staff: Invest in public health; end privatization schemes.
  • Protect public healthcare: Ensure every resident has access to timely, quality care.
